Jamaica Plain

Settled by Puritans as a market town for the surrounding farms to serve the Boston area, Jamaica Plain is still dominated by large, stately homes of the New England triple-decker variety. While the original anglo-saxon Puritan population still dominates, the past half-century has seen a real growth of Irish, Canadian, and German immigrants coming to the area, and these newcomers now account for roughly half the population.
